RED ARMY

The Troops

The troops form the essence of the Anti-Aircraft (AA) These troops represent a real danger for the pilots because they are extremely powerful and mortal. They damage very quickly the structure of the planes, even at very low altitude!

It is significant to recognize the friendly troops and those who are our enemies. The Russian troops have a gray uniform (and the Red army's troops carry a green uniform).

The Planes

At the beginning of tournament WOP1920, all the planes will not be available. Some belong to the "set of planes appearing at the beginning of the war" ("early" set of plane) and they will be present immediately. Other more advanced planes belong to the "set of planes appearing later in the war" ("late" set of plane). These planes will be available in the 2nd part of the tournament.

The planes which use Bolshevik Forces are more maneouverable than Polish ones. Their disadvantage is lower speed. Mostly, planes are French-made or built under French license by Duks company in Moscow. Some of them are also British which were captured in 1919 during Allied intervention in Russia.

The two-seater aircrafts are considered as bombers, the others as fighters.

The Squadrons

There is a big problem due to lack of Russian sources which tell about forces being in use during war with Poland. The only unit, of which I have any info is 4th Aviagruppa (4th Air Regiment). The other unit which you will find in WOP1920 is 2th Aviagruppa is a non-historical unit. Other Soviet planes are without squadron markings. But it is for sure that they were used during that conflict in 1920.

2th Aviagruppa

Recon/Bomb Unit - Sopwith 11/2 Strutter
