GENERAL RULES
------- updated : 25 May 2006 -------

GENERAL RULES:

1. Have fun. This is the most important thing here.

2. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- The map for the event will be custom Belarussia map.

3. There will be 1 open forum for the competition and 1 private forum for each side, where the orders and top secret data is to be stored.

4. There will be 1 High Commander (HC) per side (Polish and Bolshevik). They will be responsible for all assignments, gathering reports, mission planing etc. They shall post their orders at their side's private forums.

5. Any number of players can participate in the tournament.

6. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Having a screenshooting utility (for example: Hypersnap) running in a background during a game is strongly recommended.

GAMES:

7. A game shall take place once a week. Each match shall last for 2 hours. One game shall be one day of campaign time. Each game shall start at 8 a.m. (server clock, NOT ACTUAL TIME!) and finish at 6 p.m.

8. The side scoring more points wins.

9. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006)--- There shall be 6 games overally in the campaign.

10. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006)--- All games shall be played using all the rules described in this document. Score from these games shall be counted in overall campaign score.
11. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- The first 4 games shall be played using historical planes, units and paint schemes. In the last 2 games players will be allowed to choose any plane. However fighters to bombers ratio has to be preserved. So, if a player has flown a Halberstadt CL.II in 14EW, he can - for the last 2 games - choose OTHER bomber plane. It is advised that pilots of the same unit used the same plane type.
12. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) ---. Game listing is as follows:
1) Game no. 1, winter terrain, March 1920
2) Game no. 2, spring terrain, April 1920
3) Game no. 3, spring terrain, May 1920
4) Game no. 4, summer terrain, June 1920
5) Game no. 5, summer terrain, September 1920
6) Game no. 6, autumn terrain, October 1920

ASSIGNMENTS:

13. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Players shall use authentic (not neccessarily historical) surnames for their characters. These surnames may be Polish, Bolshevik or other (as there were many volunteers from USA, France and other countries at Polish side). The chosen surname is considered valid for the whole campaign and cannot be changed after a death.

14. Players shall be assigned to teams proportionally to assure both teams have an equal number of players. Players side preferences shall be taken into consideration if possible.

15. Players shall be assigned to squadrons and shall fly ONLY the plane types assigned to them by HCs (for example: in 14th Eskadra (a bomber squadron) player can fly only Halberstadt CL.II).

16. --- (Changed: 25.V.2006) --- Team changing during the campaign is allowed only under special circumstances and provided both HCs agree.

17. Each HC shall be responsible for assigning his pilots to squadrons and creating flights, selecting mission types and objectives for each game, assigning planes to pilots (in squadrons where more than 1 type is used) and for assigning missions to squadrons. Change of assignment or plane during game is prohibited. A player is obliged to do his best to complete a mission even if it meant sacrificing his virtual life.

SPECIAL TASKS:

18. Before each game HCs have the right of selecting 2 special tasks for his air forces. If completed each special task shall be rewarded with a double number of points. (EXAMPLE: A HC gives an order to destroy a certain bridge, which is 6 points worth. If pilots succeed, they receive 2x6 pts = 12 pts for completing a special task.)

19. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- There shall be following special tasks available:
1) Ground attack – mission is completed when all objects in a target are destroyed or a ‘target disabled' message appears. Hardened targets will not be considered destroyed.
2) Reconaissance – mission is completed when a single observation tower placed next to the main target is destroyed and the plane which destroyed the tower lands back in a friendly drome. Recon missions can be assigned as special tasks ONLY. A pilot cannot perform them without HC's orders.

20. Before each game, both HCs shall post in the general campaign forum, what type of targets would be the targets for given special tasks, if any. Just a type of target shall be revealed (bridge, infantry etc.) so the other side was not certain of which target would be attacked. The share of such an information is considered an Intelligence work. Informing which target exactly it would be is strictly prohibited.

21. Each HC can select per a game:
1) 1 ground attack and 1 reconaissance mission,
2) 2 ground attack missions or 2 reconaissance missions,
3) just 1 ground attack or 1 reconaissance mission,
4) no special tasks.

22. Just before each game HCs shall exchange information on which targets exactly are selected for given special tasks. This information should be packed in a password - protected archive file. The passwords shall be exchanged after the game is over and the information on the targets shall be posted in the general campaign forum.

STAYIN' ALIVE:

23. There is no limit of lives per match. But after a player died/got captured/crashed, he HAS TO EXIT THE SERVER AND WAIT FOR FULL 10 MINUTES. After that period player can re-enter the server. The procedure is as follows:
1) player dies/force lands outside a friendly drome,
2) player selects start new life,
3) after respawning player exits the server,
4) after leaving the server player waits full 10 mins,
5) player enters the server.

24. --- (Deleted: 05.25.2006) --- .(This rule is deleted :If a player gets killed, his pilots career is over. Therefore the player has to choose and play under a NEW SURNAME.)

25. If a player lands at an active friendly drome, he can repair, rearm and continue flying. He can also exit the game. Player may then re-enter the game, but he may take off ONLY from the drome he left.

26. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- If a pilot force lands in enemy territory he is considered a POW (prisoner of war) and has to exit the server and wait for full 10 minutes before re-entering.

27. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- All planes shall return to any friendly drome or land in a friendly territory before the game ends.

COMBAT:

28. All planes can strafe any ground targets with their guns.Bombers are allowed to use rockets as well. Balloons are considered ground targets.

29. Scouts are allowed to use rockets ONLY vs. Baloons.

30. Bombs are reserved only for bombers. Use of bombs by scout planes is strictly forbidden. Only bombers are allowed to perform reconaissance duties. Reconaissance is completed when a single observation tower placed next to the main target is destroyed and the plane which destroyed the tower lands back in a friendly drome.

31. The registered bombers for the campaign are: Halberstadt CL.II, LVG C.V, DFW C.V, Bristol Fighter, Salmson 2a2, Breguet XIV, Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, Farman F.30, RAF R.E.8 and DH9.

32. It is prohibited to destroy and recon the same target during the same game. In case of destroying and reconing of the same target during the same game, only points for reconaissance shall be included in the score.

BOOTS:

33. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Boots and crashes to desktop shall be considered "aicraft technical failures". If the player who netted or crashed out, had a contact with an enemy, he can return in game after waiting 10 min. A player who netted or crashed out without a contact with an enemy, can return in game immediately.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT NO PLAYER WOULD CHOOSE DISCONNETION FROM THE INTERNET ONLY BECAUSE HE WAS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE DURING THE GAME (LIKE BEING OUTNUMBERED BY ENEMIES OR HAVING NO CHANCE TO RETURN TO HIS HOME DROME/FRIENDLY POSITIONS!!!). We wish this game to be as clear as possible. It is only a game, so let us have fun.

34. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Pilots who fought and scored hits on a plane that netted out are allowed to report "probable" kills, but they won't be included in the score.

35. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- If a mass boot occurs, players who were netted out are allowed to re-enter the server immediately, whether they had a contact with an enemy or not. A boot is considered "mass boot" if at least 3 pilots are ejected from the game at the same time.

PENALTIES:

36. Pilot who did not wait FULL 10 minutes, after leaving the server due to death, forced landing outside of a friendly drome or being netted out (with except for a mass boot), shall be penalised with 10 negative points.

37. Pilot who bombed a friendly target shall be penalised with 15 negative points.

38. Pilot who destroyed a friendly target shall be penalised with 40 negative points.

39. Pilot who bombed a target in a scout shall be penalised with 20 negative points.

AFTER BATTLE REPORTS:

40. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Each player has the right to write personal report after each mission, especially when he want to complain on something, correct something or explain

41. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Each report may have:
-personal opinions about mission
-may contain description of controversial situation, such like target hardening. A screenshot should be added to such report which will help the High Commanders to choose better decision.

42. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- To help the players to write such reports, all players data will be provided after each match by the Serv.Op.

43. --- (Changed: 05.25.2006) --- Each player has 48 hours (counted from the end of the match (5PM EST/11PM CET) to write such report. Reports posted after that period of time will not be considered.

CUSTOMIZATION:

44. Use of any available terrain graphics and sound files with WOP1920 is allowed.

45. Use of custom ground objects graphics is strictly forbidden.

46. Use of any invisible cockpit mods or transparent cockpit feature is strictly forbidden. We intend to add as much realism as possible. Furthermore, using of transparent cockpit in glide causes game crashes due to high customization of cockpits, non-standard panels and gauges added etc.

There shall be a special factor "the farer you fly to destroy a target, the more points you gain". We mark 2 lines on the map below. Values of all targets located behind them are multiplied x 1,5.

For example - destroying a bridge would be worth 6 pts x 1,5 = 9 points.
This factor works only for bombing. Reconaissance is worth 2 pts + 1/2 target value everywhere.
